Being responsible and pursuing sustainable innovations are two of our beliefs in digitization of China; Digital China has these beliefs in every decision, not only in daily business but also throughout our corporate responsibilities to the society.
Digital China's policy in corporate responsibilities is to focus on realization of universal education, improving the society by enlightening the young generation.
Charity Projects:
1. Hope School Project
Digital China and staff initiated a fund raising Charity project – Digital China Hope Foundation to raise money in building Digital China Hope Primary Schools. Hope Primary Schools are built for the children in the rural China areas who cannot afford to go to school. The Group believes that children are the future of the country, and providing them with education will facilitate the future development of China.
In 2008, Digital China and its employees raised more than RMB 5 million for Project Hope and established the following Hope primary schools (8 in total) in Sichuan, Hubei, Hebei, Henan and Shaanxi provinces:
- Digital China Fushun Hope School in Fushun County, Sichuan Province
- Digital China Yanhe Hope School in Yanhe Town, Kangscheng County, Hubei
- Digital China Yan Duhe Hope school in Yanduhe Town, Badong Count, Hubei
- Digital China Hope School in Cikutong village, Dongwangzhuang Town, Yiyang
- Digital China Hope School in Long Wangmiao Village, Qinglong Man
- Digital China Lantian Hope Primary School, Bayuan Township, Lantian County, Shaanxi, Province
- Digital China Sanjianfang Hope Primary School, Tuyou Qi, Baotou City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region
- Zhangshi Middle School under construction, Pingjiang County, Hunan Province, to be completed in 2009
China Youth Development Foundation, founder of "Project Hope", was chosen to be the project partner because it shares the same belief with Digital China , assisting dropout students and those at risk of dropping out to continue schooling in China's rural, poverty-stricken areas.
In addition to the cash donation of the Group and staff, we show are our care in kindness and by organizing frequent visits to the schools. |

2. Sichuan Earthquake in 2008
When the deadly earthquake hit Sichuan in May 2008, Digital China devoted in the earthquake relief activities. Both the company and employees contributed money or materials to the affected victims and donated emergency IT equipment to the government, totaling more than RMB 6 million in value. |
3. SARS Charity Fund
In 2003, Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome ("SARS") presented a severe challenge to China and taking a toll on the medical front. Digital China has taken active measures in response to the nationwide "Fight Against SARS" campaign. The Group contributed to a joint donation of RMB10 million with Legend Holdings Limited and sister company Lenovo Group Limited to the frontline medical staff in Beijing to help them fight against SARS.
In May 2003, we separately donated a batch of servers and networking products to the Beijing Municipal Education Commission to help it provide "on-line education" to students through television and radio broadcast as an alternative to the temporarily suspended classes. |
4. Asian Tsunami
Digital China reacted to the emergency call to aid our neighbouring countries in Asia in 2004 which were devastated by the tsunami in a fund raising campaign with organized by our parent company Legend Holdings Limited. All funds raised were donated to Red Cross. |
